Press Release: Pasadena Community Foundation Awards Grant for Outdoor Play Space at IEA Learning Center

IEA is delighted to announce the recent completion of an Outdoor Play Space at the IEA Learning Center funded in part by a generous capital grant from the Pasadena Community Foundation (PCF).

With landscaping improvements including the removal of the existing patchy uneven grass and unsafe tripping hazards such as protruding tree roots, hedges and rocks, and the resurfacing of the area with the installation of padded playground artificial turf, the site has been transformed into a safe and welcoming on-site play space for students and families to enjoy year-round. The natural grass appearance of the play space maintains the home-like setting of the Learning Center’s historic building and neighborhood. In an urban environment where access to safe outdoor play is limited, this project ensures that all IEA students will have access to outdoor activity during class days.

Founded in 1953, the Pasadena Community Foundation promotes local philanthropy, with a mission to inspire generosity and engage the resources of our community for present needs unfulfilled and future needs unforeseen. The Foundation helps donors maximize the impact of their charitable contributions – strengthening the community, preserving cultural resources, and assisting those in need.

IEA is extremely grateful for PCF’s support of this project which was completed in time for students to enjoy as they were welcomed to IEA for the start of Academy’s Fall Session.
