Is IEA Camp Yunasa Right for Your Child?

IEA Camp Yunasa is designed for gifted youth who are ready for an experience that supports both who they are and how they experience the world.

Giftedness is not only about advanced intellectual ability. It often includes heightened curiosity, sensitivity, intensity, and a deep desire to understand and connect. Camp Yunasa is built for children who recognize themselves in this and is one of the most loved camps for gifted youth.

Who Thrives at Yunasa?

Yunasa is likely a strong fit for children who:

  • Demonstrate advanced intellectual curiosity or ability
  • Think deeply and ask complex questions
  • Feel emotions intensely or are highly perceptive
  • Seek meaningful friendships with like-minded peers
  • May feel out of sync in traditional school or social settings
  • Are open to exploring personal growth in a supportive environment
  • Children do not need to meet a single definition of “gifted.” Many arrive with different strengths, personalities, and experiences. What matters most is readiness for a community built on understanding and respect.

  • Ages: 10–15
  • Campers should be comfortable in a residential camp setting and able to participate independently in group activities.

Yunasa provides a supportive environment, but campers should be open to engaging with peers, participating in workshops, and stepping into new experiences.

Many campers return to IEA Camp Yunasa year after year. Those who have previously attended and will be 15-16 years old at the time of camp may be invited to apply for the Leadership Program, a selective opportunity that allows older campers to take on greater responsibility and develop peer leadership skills within the community.

“IEA Camp Yunasa has been truly transformative. Our boy experienced an acceptance of self and group connection that he’s never had before –– a magical experience…”
