IEA’s Camp Yunasa is a one-week residential summer experience created for gifted youth—a place where children are not asked to fit in, but are understood as they are. For many gifted children, their biggest challenge is not learning more. It is finding an environment that meets them fully—one that recognizes both the intensity of their minds and the depth of their inner lives.
At Yunasa, they discover they are not alone. They meet peers who think and feel as they do—often for the first time. What begins as recognition becomes connection. And connection becomes belonging.
Yunasa is offered in two locations each summer, providing families with flexible options while maintaining the same program experience.
IEA Camp Yunasa is designed and led by eminent experts in gifted education for gifted youth. It blends the experience of a traditional summer camp with programming designed for gifted learners to foster growth.
Campers work with experienced professionals in the fields of gifted education and psychology who help them better understand their abilities and navigate the challenges that often come with being gifted. They engage in outdoor activities, creative exploration, and collaborative experiences alongside guided workshops that build self-awareness, emotional understanding, and confidence.
At Yunasa, balance is a core value. We believe gifted young people need more than intellectual challenge. They need support across five interconnected domains of development.
Yunasa nurtures each of these dimensions, helping campers develop greater balance without diminishing who they are.
Group events, evening programs, and collaborative experiences are designed to deepen relationships and create a sense of belonging that extends beyond the camp week.
What sets IEA Camp Yunasa apart as a community is that many campers return year after year to reconnect with friends and mentors who understand them. Campers come from across the country and the world beyond, creating a diverse and deeply connected group. Many return as young adults to be camp counselors.
IEA Camp Yunasa is offered for one week in two locations, and both camps offer the same program and experience. Families may choose the location and timing that works best for them.

“Our daughter…feels for the first time…there are other kids like her, who ‘get her.’ She was aware of how she needed to build her confidence and to believe who she is (as she is) an incredible gift.”
