Every year since 2003, Action For Nature (AFN), a U.S.-based non-profit, has sought to recognize and reward young people who are taking action to solve the world’s tough environmental problems.

Doodle for Google

Doodle for Google is an annual contest open to students in grades K-12. Students are invited to create their own Google doodle for the chance to have it featured on Google.com, as well as win some great scholarships and tech packages for their schools.

Course Hero

Course Hero is an online learning platform where you can access over 25 million course-specific study resources contributed by a community of students and educators. You’ll find practice problems, study guides, videos, class notes, and step-by-step explanations for every subject you’re studying — from economics to literature, biology to history, accounting to psychology, and everything in between. We help you quickly find what you need so you can learn deeply. In addition, Course Hero offers scholarships through the Hero Student Scholarship by awarding $5,000/year until graduation.

Young Inventors Program

The Academy of Applied Science’s Young Inventors’ Program is a K-12 Project-based learning program that provides a hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) educational enrichment opportunity to budding youth inventors. The Young Inventors’ Program delivers YIP Kits, invention kits for classrooms, to help schools introduce a fun invention curriculum to their learners in the form of a teachable unit, or via a club or afterschool program that culminates in a school Invention Convention event. The flexible program can be started anytime October-February with a school’s winning inventors being identified by March in order to qualify for the Academy’s Regional Invention Convention Competition with potential to go to the Nationals at the U.S. Patent Office in Washington, D.C. The Academy of Applied Science has a partnership called Invention New England that offers an online training course for teachers for professional development or graduate credit to teachers in NH, MA, ME and Vermont.

Gwinnett Alliance for the Gifted Education

Gwinnett Alliance for Gifted Education (GAGE) is a non-profit organization committed to the support, encouragement and advancement of gifted, accelerated, and advanced content students. The organization is made up of volunteers, mainly teachers, parents, and community leaders, working together to ensure the quality of gifted education.
As a local affiliate of the Georgia Association of Gifted Children, GAGE researches and develops resources that could meet the unique learning needs of gifted students in Gwinnett County, Georgia.

Alfond Grant

The Alfond Scholarship Foundation (ASF) is a non-profit organization created by Harold Alfond, a Maine businessman and philanthropist, to invest the $500 Alfond Grant at birth for every Maine resident baby for their future education.
For every baby born a Maine resident1 since 2013, the Alfond Scholarship Foundation invests a $500 Alfond Grant for his or her future qualified higher education expenses. The Alfond Scholarship Foundation invests these funds until the child is ready to use them. The funds can be used for education after high school – college or university, certificate programs and trade schools. And the funds can be used in Maine or out of state. Children awarded the Alfond Grant have until age 28 to use it.

Gifted Association of Missouri

Through awards and scholarships, the Gifted Association of Missouri celebrates the efforts of many educators, parents, and friends as they continue expanding the promise of gifted education. Colleagues may nominate individuals for awards and submit letters of support to the Scholarship and Award Committee. This committee makes their recommendation to the GAM Board of Directors. Award recipients are honored in October at the annual Missouri Conference on Gifted Education. GAM award and scholarship recipients must be GAM members and attend the GAM Fall Conference on Gifted Education. Applications and nominations for these awards and scholarships should be submitted online

The Angela Award

This award honors one female student in grades 5–8,who is a resident of the United States, US Territories, or Canada, and is enrolled in full time public, private, or home school. The applicant should be involved in or exhibits a strong connection to science.

James H. Parke Memorial Scholarship

The James H. Parke Memorial Scholarship Program honors young volunteers who are dedicated to serving veterans. The board of directors of the Fund annually establishes (in the early spring) the amount of the primary award and any secondary scholarships. The scholarships may be used for tuitions and fees, books and supplies and/or room and board or other educational needs purchased through the school of the students’ choice.

The Nicholas A. Virgilio Memorial Haiku and Senryu Competition

The Nicholas A. Virgilio Memorial Haiku and Senryu Competition for Grades 7-12 was founded in 1990 by the Sacred Heart Church in Camden, N.J. It is sponsored and administered by the Nick Virgilio Haiku Association in memory of Nicholas A. Virgilio, a charter member of the Haiku Society of America, who died in 1989.
